Along with the likes of Michael Doucet’s
Beausoleil, Steve Riley and his powerhouse band have been
at the forefront of the Cajun music scene for over a decade.
This album is South-West Louisiana music at its best, with
Riley opting to give a contemporary edge to a wide range
of traditional Cajun classics along with a smattering of
his original tunes that lose nothing in comparison. Martin

The Alan Lomax Archive is proud to announce
Rounder Records reissue of the historic Blues in the Mississippi
Night. A pivotal document of pre-civil rights America, this
is the story of the blues from the mouths of three legendary
bluesmen - Big Bill Broonzy, Memphis Slim, and Sonny Boy Williamson.
The album was so controversial that its release was delayed
13 years, finally released by United Artists in 1959. Out
of print for over a decade, this CD includes the highly collectable
original album, mastered to 24-bit digital, and includes extensive
new liner notes. |

This latest CD creates musical short
stories that wed the essence of the blues with the depth of
classical Indian ragas. It is the sort of music that is hard
to forget, and deliciously addictive to listen. Produced by
Harry’s perennial producer, Jordy Sharp, Harry’s
serene solo sound (the “Harry zone”) is augmented
by a handful of musicians and singers from Canada and Australia.
He says “I began writing the words in Brazil in late
2002. After ten months of writing, it took seven days to record,
now the songs are on their own. Hope you enjoy." |

Recorded in Canada, Australia, the USA and Europe, ‘Road
Ragas’ delivers the inimitable magic of a live Harry
Manx show. With 3 songs not previously released, this long
recording includes Harry’s greatest originals and classic
blues covers. His unique blend of western blues and Indian
ragas performed by Harry on vocals, lap slide guitar, banjo,
and Mohan veena (a 20-stringed sitar/guitar invented by Harry’s
teacher V.M. Bhatt), has been called ‘the essential
link between east and west”. |
