henri dikongue - N'oublie Jamais (Buda)
henri dikongue - WA (Buda)
henri dikongue - c'est la vie (Buda)
This release is richly melodic, deftly arranged and full of unexpected twists. Dikongue's fluid, vulnerable tenor tells his tales in confiding tones, aided by a remarkable consort of musicians and singers. The album is dedicated to the talented and deceased Nigerian singer and political rabble-rouser Fela Kuti, and to the late American actor Robert Michum.

King Sunny Ade - King of JuJu (Wrasse)

One of the true pioneers of modern Nigerian juju music is undoubtedly singer/guitarist King Sunny Ade. Adding Hawaiian guitar, bass, electric keyboards and rarely brass to the traditional conglomeration of talking drums and percussion instruments, the still active Sunny who at last count had 111 albums to his credit released a series of recordings in the 70s that have come to be regarded as bona fide classics.
