Within the borders of Macedonia resides an enormous population of émigrés from neighbouring Albania. Due to the country’s isolation from the rest of Europe up until recent times many styles that might otherwise have been discarded or bastardised into populist fodder have been retained and undergone transmutation into vital folk art.
